The Hendricks Civic Theater plays host to musicals and dramas throughout the year. Previously housed at "the little church by the side of the road" in Maplewood, the Theatre Company has now prepared to relocate to the Long Street Playhouse just north of Danville. The Long Street Playhouse was built in 1895 and used for many years as a church, but is now becoming the County's only live-action theater house.

Taking a drive through Plainfield means driving on one of the nation’s longest-lasting infrastructures, the Old National Road (US Highway 40). This road runs directly through Plainfield, and is considered that community's Main Road. Nationally, the road begins in Baltimore, Maryland, and ends in St. Louis, Missouri, and the road was considered a top priority in the George Washington leadership of the United States. There are 80 markers throughout the state of Indiana, including Plainfield, which indicates the stretch of road as a historic landmark.

There are also four Hendricks County structures that were originally libraries funded through the philanthropic generosity of Andrew Carnegie. These libraries were in communities such as Brownsburg, which received its grant in 1912; Danville, which received its grant in 1902; Coatesville, which received its grant in 1914; and Plainfield, which received its grant in 1911. Of these structures, only Danville remains a library, other parties now occupy the other locations.
