Hendricks County Night with the Indians, June 28

For the 10th year in a row, the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau is offering Hendricks County residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy an evening of family fun through its Hendricks County Night with the Indianapolis Indians on June 28 at a substantially reduced price.

Half price, in fact, unless you are one of the fortunate ones who comment on this blog post for a chance to win one of three sets of four tickets they are giving away to the game.

Come join the Indianapolis Indians for Hendricks County Night on June 28.

More on the contest for free tickets in a moment.

I’ve attended in the past, and it is one of those fun nights you don’t want to miss.

This year, the Indians, who are the AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, take on the Toledo Mud Hens, who are the AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Victory Field is a fantastic setting for a family outing. Sit in the seats and enjoy a tremendous view of the Indianapolis skyline. Or sit in the grass in the outfield, and let the kids run off their energy while you’re in perfect position to catch a home run ball.

Rowdie, the Indianapolis Indians' mascot, loves to entertain kids.

Minor league baseball is a lot of fun for everyone. I enjoy it because the players are so accessible and willing to sign autographs, chat with fans, and make sure everyone is having a great time.

After each half-inning, there is always something going on, and at Hendricks County night, Hendricks County folks are involved in the silly contests involving fans out on the field, T-shirts being thrown into the crowd, music, dancing, and other activities heavy on fan involvement that make the evening pass by in the blink of an eye.

The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau also will have a booth outside of center field near the main gate prior to the game providing information, such as Visitors’ Guides, and will allow people to sign up for a giveaway that will include four Splash Island tickets, Monster Mini Golf tickets and tickets to a future Indians game.

OK, so I bet you are wanting more information on that free ticket giveaway. To enter, you need to tell us what your favorite Hendricks County summer activity is in the comment section below this post.

That’s it. The drawing will be Monday, and the winners will be notified by e-mail.

Attending an Indianapolis Indians game is great family fun.

If you aren’t one of the lucky winners, don’t let that stop you from joining us for a fun evening.

Buy One Get One Free coupons are available at the HCCVB office, located at 8 W. Main Street in Danville on the north side of the Courthouse Square, and at the Chambers of Commerce in Avon, Brownsburg, Danville, and Plainfield. Additionally, coupons can be picked up at the guest services booth at Metropolis Mall in Plainfield and at the Hendricks County Flyer office in Avon.

Then simply take the coupons to the Indianapolis Indians box office on or before the date of the game and purchase $15, $11, or $10 tickets, getting one free for every one you purchase! It’s a heck of a deal!

How can you choose just one favorite Hendiricks County Summer activity! The Hendricks County 4H Fair is the family must stop. Where else can your children read, craft, and try a new food with the Purdue Ext, get to see and interact with great 4H kids, that go out of their way to share their animal with little kids eager to pet them. Not to mention the dairy barn milk shakes so thick you need a spoon instead of a straw. McCloud Nature Park is also a must! The staff is always right there when my kids have questions. Bird watch in the center, hike the trails, wade in the river, and the cheapest entertainment ever…who can skip their rock the farthest. Plus they have the best programs ever…usually free! The Washington Township Park Splash Pad and Park is a favorite for a large family. The playground is smaller than the one at the top of the hill, so if you have lots of kids to watch…lots easier. Bring a picnic lunch, splash in the water and play on the swings. Make is your own luch bunch and bring a book!
